On Saturday the US and Iran Exchange Prisoners

The US and Iran exchange prisoners. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced this on Saturday.

One of the prisoners is the Chinese American Xiyue Wang, who was arrested in Iran in 2016 and charged with espionage.

He was sentenced to ten years in prison. In exchange for his release, America let the Iranian biologist Massoud Soleimani go.

He was detained since October 2018 for allegedly violating sanctions against Iran with an attempt to export certain chemicals to that country.

Switzerland played a role in the exchange. That country represents the US in Iran. The Iranian minister thanked the Swiss government.
