Studies of at least 45 Chinese vaccines against the new coronavirus have been cancelled because there are too few people in China who are still being treated for the virus.
Zhong Nanshan, the head of the team advising the government on the virus, said that against Chinese state media.
“Many studies have been cancelled because no one thought China would get the virus under control so quickly,” said Zhong.
“We no longer have the option of a large-scale vaccine test.”
According to Chinese figures, 1081 people are still being treated in the country for the virus.
Since the outbreak began, more than 580 clinical trial applications have been received in China.
