The French also have to wear face masks in all closed public areas this week. The government’s decree for this will come into force at the beginning of this week.

The obligation was already in public transport, but will now also apply in museums, cafes, shops, churches, post offices, banks and cinemas.

In principle, the obligation also applies to sports halls, but the mask is not required during sports.

Prime Minister Jean Castex has made haste with the extension of the mouth mask obligation. His chief president Macron first spoke of August.

There has been an increase in the number of infections again, but according to Castex, France is on the right track as far as the virus is concerned.

In total, nearly 174,000 cases have been identified in France. More than 30,000 patients died and approximately 80,000 healed.

More than 480 corona patients are currently in critical condition. The virus has mainly hit the northeast along the Rhine and in and around the capital Paris.
