After two failed landing attempts, a Ryanair flight from the Latvian capital, Riga, to Vienna was diverted to nearby Czech Brno on Monday evening.
The Austrian newspaper Die Presse reports that this was due to disrupted GPS devices.
The aircraft’s navigation systems were disrupted over Poland and did not recover in time for its arrival in Vienna. Therefore, the flight was diverted to Brno, where visibility was better.
Since 2022, an increase in disrupted GPS signals has been observed in Northern Europe, with official authorities largely blaming Russia. Ryanair has not yet responded to the incident.
