A Palestinian was killed Monday in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank. Medical services and security sources have reported this.
Palestinian sources say the 31-year-old man was hit in the head during a clash in the Ras Al-Ain neighbourhood of the city of Nablus.
According to the Israeli police, members of the special forces, with the support of soldiers in Nablus, arrested a suspect and seized a semi-automatic weapon. “As the special forces ended their operation and left the site, rioters threw explosives at them. Their lives were in danger,” police said.
“The troops have responded by firing at the attackers. Unfortunately, they appear to have hit one of them,” the statement said.
Israel does not have a permanent presence in Palestinian towns in the West Bank, but the security forces carry out regular raids and arrests. Unfortunately, these interventions sometimes lead to violence.
