Beach Barcelona Reopened on Friday Weeks After Corona Measures

Barcelona beach reopened on Friday. It has been closed for weeks because of measures against the coronavirus.

For the time being, the beach will only remain open between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Visitors to the beach were happy to get back into the water. “This is freedom,” said a swimmer. “That I can swim in the sea again is perfect for me.”

The Spanish government will decide on Friday which regions will enter the next phase of the phase-out of the lockdown.

The number of new infections was higher on Friday than Thursday and therefore does not seem to be decreasing yet.

The Catalonia region, of which Barcelona is the capital, and the area around Madrid are the hardest hit. There, the strict measures seem to be extended.
