Edward Leung, the 30-year-old activist and supporter of Hong Kong’s independence, has been released after four years in prison.
The authorities announced this on Wednesday morning.
Leung was a rising star within the Hong Kong protest movement. In 2018, however, he ended up in jail for assaulting the police during a demonstration in 2016.
His activism was one of the foundations of the protest movement that was brutally crushed in 2019.
