US President Joe Biden does not plan to attend King Charles’s coronation. American and British media write that based on different sources. And that is apparently not so exceptional.
On May 6, 2023, Charles will be officially crowned as British King. And Joe Biden reportedly won’t be among them. Sources report that. Officially, nothing has yet been announced about the possible presence of Biden. But it is not uncommon for US presidents to miss the coronation of a new king or queen in the United Kingdom.
When former British Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in June 1953, then-US President Dwight D. Eisenhower was also not in attendance. However, he did send a delegation instead.
Biden was present at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral but would also be the first US president to attend a British state funeral. Biden and his wife were also almost completely at the back during that funeral.
Biden may send his Vice President Kamala Harris or his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, to the United Kingdom for Charles’s coronation.
