Most European Union countries now report cases of the corona. The virus has now reached at least twenty of the 27 EU countries.
Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Malta and Cyprus are as far as known free from the virus. Most infections have been reported in Western Europe.
In countries adjacent to the EU such as Serbia, Ukraine or Albania, no infections have yet come to light.
Italy is the hardest hit in Europe.
Nearly 1,600 people were infected there. More than thirty Italians have since died from the effects of the virus. France (130 cases) and Germany (150) follow at a great distance.
