Hugo Barra, the vice president for augmented and virtual reality at Facebook, is leaving the company. He posted that on Facebook himself.
Barra worked for Facebook Reality Labs for four years, where he helped develop Facebook’s planned intelligent glasses, which should be released sometime this year.
Before joining Facebook, Hugo Barra worked at Google and Xiaomi, among others. Now he plans to work more towards technology in healthcare, he reports in his post on Facebook.
Facebooks Reality Labs is responsible, among other things, for the development of the Oculus, a virtual reality headset. This year, some sort of smart glasses from the company would also be released, in collaboration with the sunglasses maker Ray-Ban.
It is not yet entirely clear what these glasses will be able to do precisely.
