Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has the coronavirus. “I had NO symptoms and tested positive,” wrote the Democrat, who gained national acclaim for her actions when anti-racism protests got out of hand.
Lance Bottoms is seen as a contender to become the running mate of Joe Biden, who wants to participate in the November presidential election on behalf of the Democratic Party.
His running mate will become vice president if he wins.
The politician told CNN she was tested because her husband slept more than usual. They both turned out to be infected.
“I am still in shock because I have no idea how we were exposed,” said the mayor, who had a dry cough and headache.
Lance Bottoms called rioters to order in late May after the death of black American George Floyd.
“What I see on the streets of Atlanta is not Atlanta. This is not a protest. This is not in the mind of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” she said. “This is chaos.”
