Twitter Announces Shopping Module

Messaging service Twitter is testing a new feature that allows users to shop online via a browser in the app.

The test is currently underway in the United States and appears to be limited to Apple devices. Twitter says it doesn’t process sales itself, so customers just make their purchases as they would otherwise directly on the online store’s site.

But of course, it is an attempt to make Twitter more profitable for companies. So in the ‘Shop Module’ they can put their products at the top of their Twitter profile.

With the shopping module, Twitter is going after other social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, each of which provides e-commerce functions.

It is also the second time that Twitter has attempted something similar. The company had previously experimented with a ‘Buy Now’ button and product catalogues, but those features were removed.
