The US authorities first found the coronavirus in mink. The infected animals come from two companies in Utah, The Washington Post reports.
The authorities in the state investigated because a suspicious number of animals died on the mink farms. Researchers found that five dead minks had the virus.
In addition to the animals, employees of the companies have also tested positive for the virus, the United States Department of Agriculture reports.
It is still unclear whether the minks have been infected by humans or vice versa.
