Chancellor Scholz Wants to Prevent Escalation Ukraine Anyway

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believes that NATO should do everything it can to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia.

According to him, this could lead to a third world war and a nuclear war with terrible consequences.

Scholz urged caution in an interview with the weekly Der Spiegel. His government, for example, does not want to supply heavy weapons such as tanks to Ukraine. Moreover, according to him, there is no clear point at which the Federal Republic becomes a party to the war in Ukraine.

“That’s why it’s all the more important that we consider every step we take very carefully and take it carefully.”

Preventing NATO from becoming involved in escalating the conflict is a top priority for Scholz. “I don’t focus on polls and don’t get annoyed by hysterical screams because the consequences of a mistake can be dramatic.”
